October 1, 2007
Dear DuKane Valley Council Members, Supporters, and Friends:
It is with mixed emotions that we compose this final letter to you. At the last Board of Director’s meeting convened in Geneva, on September 25, 2007, we, the Board of Directors, voted to dissolve the DuKane Valley Council.
We also approved a recommendation that all assets available after meeting the organization’s financial responsibilities be donated to the Metro West Council of Government to fund a multi-jurisdictional event that would be open to past DKVC members. The Metro West Council of Government was selected because of its mutual membership base, its support of DKVC for events of mutual interest, and because of its mission to serve the DKVC region. The details of the donation have been completed and we are waiting for the final audit and verification that all financial obligations have been met. We will post an announcement on the website when the official presentation is made to the Metro West Council of Government.
You should know that we worked extremely hard to consider all of the possible actions prior to accepting the recommendation to dissolve the organization. After careful analysis of membership trends, much deliberation, and discussion, we believed that this action was in the best interest of the organization’s membership. Many of the Board members who helped make this decision were from organizations that founded DKVC.
DKVC can be proud of its more than three decades serving the leaders of the Fox Valley Region. It has been my pleasure to serve with all of you. The DKVC website will remain active through March 2008. It will provide a common source for information about the organization’s final actions.
If you have any questions or if additional information is needed, please don’t hesitate to contact Kate Davison via email (kdavison@niu.edu) or by phone (815) 753-3499.
Sincerely,
DuKane Valley Council Board of Directors |
